Hyundai has announced that the hydrogen fuel cell ix35 will retail for £53,105.
The first carmaker to supply zero-emission hydrogen-fuelled cars to customers in the UK, Hyundai has been supported by government and industry grants to bring the car to market.
The Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell SUV was unveiled back in 2013, and is now available for UK customers to buy new, directly from Hyundai.
The £53,105 price tag has already had £15,000 shaved off its original retail price of £67,985, which was the recommended retail price before government grants.
The Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell SUV has a 136bhp electric motor and two hydrogen fuel tanks, with a total range of around 369 miles.
Hyundai claims that the hydrogen-powered ix35 performs just like a normal car, and can be refuelled just as quickly as a petrol-powered car (unlike electric vehicles, which can lead users to developing range anxiety). Like electric vehicles, the hydrogen-powered ix35 is silent, as it is powered by an electric motor.

There are 13 hydrogen fuel stations currently in operation in the UK, in the following locations:
