What is the Hyundai i10 N Line?

Designed for quick trips around urban streets but with the comfort and features for longer journeys, the Hyundai i10 is a practical choice for solo drivers and couples. When the N Line was introduced in 2019 as part of the Mk3 redesign, it added sporty features and an eye-catching design to the Hyundai i10 range.

The N Line elevates the i10’s performance without compromising its core appeal. It's still easy to manoeuvre around cramped city roads and slot into street parking – with enhanced safety features and better connectivity to make road trips pleasurable. The Hyundai i10 N Line is a strong choice for drivers in the market for a city car or supermini like the Fiat 500 Rock Star, Toyota Aygo x-claim, Citroën C1 Flair, or Peugeot 108 GT Line.

Hyundai i10 N Line history

The Hyundai i10 was launched in 2007 as a five-door, hatchback-style city car, to be the successor to the discontinued Hyundai Atos. Over the years, the i10 has earned a reputation as a low-cost car to own and run in every area, from fuelling to insurance and car tax.

Since its first release, the i10 has produced three generations. The second generation offered a wider car so five passengers could comfortably fit inside, while keeping its small city car body. The third generation added practical, fuel-saving features like Idle Stop and Go and an even more spacious body with a lower, more aerodynamic profile.

The N Line was introduced as a trim option for the Mk3 Hyundai i10 in 2019, adding a sportier look to the compact car. It was also launched as the flagship trim level on the model. It’s available with Hyundai’s full engine range, including two petrol engines and a diesel unit. Both the 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engines are available in manual only with the N Line trim, while the more powerful 1.0-litre T-GDi is manual as standard.

Both 1.0-litre engines have 67bhp and 96Nm of torque, which, with a manual gearbox helps them go from 0-62mph in 14.1 seconds. The 1.2-litre engine has 84bhp and 118Nm of torque, with a 12.2 second 0-62mph time. The turbocharged T-GDi engine has 100bhp and delivers 172Nm of torque. As a result, it can get from 0-62mph in 10.5 seconds.

The Hyundai i10 N Line also benefits from style tweaks that distinguish it from other trims. You’ll find 16-inch alloy wheels, ample N Line badging around the exterior and a dual-exit exhaust pipe to add to its sporty design.

Where does the Hyundai i10 N Line sit in the range?

The N Line is the Hyundai i10’s top-spec trim. It elevates the city car with sporty and stylish design choices and handy features throughout in a practical, compact package. If you like the small form and low running costs of the i10 but love the look of performance-focused hot hatchbacks, the Hyundai i10 N Line is a strong choice.

What features and equipment does the N Line have?

Aesthetics are a key part of the Hyundai i10 N Line’s appeal. Its exterior is eye-catching, with an abstract design grille bordered by three-blade daytime running lights. Touches like body-coloured door handles, rear privacy glass, and the rear lights displaying the letter H when illuminated boosts its appeal further. The interior has stylish touches including black cloth seats with red stitching.

The Hyundai i10 N Line is more than just smart on the outside. Its heated mirrors will quickly remove condensation and ice for full visibility, and the halogen bi-function lights always ensure good visibility.

There’s also a host of technology. For safety, you’ll find airbags to protect you from the front and side. Thanks to traction control, electronic stability control and hill-start assist, you’ll enjoy a smooth ride in all conditions. Cruise control takes the strain out of long motorway journeys, and front and rear USB-C charging points help prevent your tech from running out of power.

You’ll also benefit from autonomous emergency braking, which includes a forward collision warning system that can detect obstacles, pedestrians or sudden braking ahead, and react to keep you safe. A rear-view camera will help you back into the tightest of parking spots.

The Hyundai i10 N Line has plenty of comfort-focused features including air conditioning, heated seats and intuitive climate control. The infotainment system is easy to use, as it’s controlled via an eight-inch touchscreen display. Connect your smartphone using Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to simplify navigation, communication and entertainment. You can skip between songs and answer calls using the steering wheel controls to keep you safe and connected.
