There are Great Run events all over the country, and it takes hundreds of people and countless hours of dedication to make these fantastic mass-participation events happen. That’s why Arnold Clark is proud to support the Great Run and Great Swim series, providing the vehicles to help get the show on the road, creating the perfect platform for both elite athletes and fundraisers to take part. You might be surprised at how Arnold Clark’s vehicles are used throughout these events.
Great Runs take place on the city streets and transforming these from busy traffic lanes into a safe race course is no small task. Arnold Clark vehicles help with the heavy lifting, transporting all the equipment to the start and finish lines and making sure that everything is in place along the way for all the athletes to enjoy a safe and successful race. Our cars are also there early on the morning of race day give the course in inspection drive to ensure everything is up to standard. Of course, after the race is done, it all has to come down as the preparation starts again for the next event.
The Great Run series attracts elite athletes from all over the world. Arnold Clark’s cars help get them where they need to be. From picking them up at airports and train stations to delivering them on race day from the comfort of their hotels, these cars are vital in making sure some of the world’s greatest runners and swimmers can take their place on the starting line.
Arnold Clark provides the lead vehicle for all the Great Run events. While the athletes run the course, you’ll see an Arnold Clark vehicle driving the course in front, with a clock mounted on the roof to provide the vital timings to the athletes, whether they’re aiming to break a world record, or even just a personal best. There’ll be plenty of other vehicles around the course with clocks too, to show the crowd how long the race is going.
Every race has officials positioned around the course to make sure that all the athletes follow the route exactly and don’t cut any corners. While these officials are fighting fit and focused, we don’t expect them to walk the full course to get to where they need to be, so Arnold Clark vehicles drop them off at the correct location. As well as judging the rules, these race officials are also responsible for the split times that you see on TV.
If you’re taking part or just watching, you can’t miss our bright yellow Roadies truck. And where there’s a truck, our street team aren’t far behind. These event enthusiasts are there to cheer everyone on and to hand out encouraging high fives. If you’re lucky, they might even give you some excellent Arnold Clark goodies like ponchos or sunglasses, depending on the weather.
