Alfa Romeo Tonale: a new era begins

A first look at the new hybrid and plug-in hybrid from Alfa Romeo.

Alfa Romeo is entering the electric world with their first hybrid and plug-in hybrid model. The Alfa Romeo Tonale represents a turning point in Alfa’s brand, they’ve even dubbed it their ‘metamorfosi’, or metamorphosis in English. And it truly is.

Style, substance and electricity.

The Alfa Romeo brand focuses heavily on luxury design and sheer power, which hasn’t changed with the Tonale.

The Tonale is available as either a mild hybrid or plug-in hybrid. The mild hybrid offers either 130hp or 160hp with front-wheel drive and a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The four-wheel drive plug-in hybrid boasts an impressive 275hp, with a 1.3-litre MultiAir turbo petrol engine providing traction to the front wheels and an electric motor connected to the rear wheels. This advanced hybrid system gives the Tonale the performance of a traditionally powered Alfa Romeo, offering 0 – 62mph in just 6.2 seconds!

The Tonale is unmistakably Alfa Romeo with signature features such as the ‘telephone dial’ wheels and trefoil grille. Signature SZ triple headlights have been upgraded to Matrix LEDs and the interior is every bit as luxurious as the Giulia and Stelvio.

Driver technology

Driver-centric technology such as a customisable telescopic instrument panel and fully configurable 12.3-inch display with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto help you reach your destination in style.

Driving has never been easier with advanced driver assistance systems such as traffic jam assist, adaptive cruise control and traffic sign recognition. These features are also accompanied by:

360-degree camera
Drowsy driver detection
Auto emergency braking

Record-breaking technology

In a world exclusive, Tonale features non-fungible token (NFT) technology. This means that each Tonale comes with its own non-modifiable digital certificate showing up-to-date information about that car, such as servicing history and more. This helps the car keep its value and increases transparency.

Alfa has also teamed up with Amazon to enable Alexa voice assistant on board and they even allow you to use your vehicle as a safe location for your Amazon deliveries.

Improved customer experience

The Tonale is a turning point in Alfa’s history, in both technology and customer experience. Each car will come with an extended warranty, protecting the main components for five years and the battery for eight years or 150,000 km. The NFT technology mentioned earlier also means that used car customers will have more security when purchasing.
