A lucky winner has spoken of his delight after he picked up the keys to a brand-new Vauxhall Mokka-e.

Michael collected his new all-electric car at Arnold Clark Livingston Vauxhall after he scooped the top prize in a competition from British Gas and Vauxhall.

During the competition, which took place at Christmas, thousands of goodies were given away - but Michael was shocked to find out he had been randomly picked to win the Vauxhall Mokka-e.

'I honestly couldn’t believe it,' admitted Michael.

'I thought it was one of my mates on the wind-up! When you enter a competition, you never expect to win.

'But when Vauxhall phoned me to confirm that I’d won, I was over the moon!'

The Vauxhall Mokka-e offers a very attractive range of over 200 miles on a single charge, and Michael can’t wait to hit the open road and put it to the test.

He said: 'Well, first of all, I’m looking forward to showing off the car to my kids. They’re as excited as me.

'I love the colour of the car, and the inside is great looking. I’ve also just downloaded the MyVauxhall app, which has some really cool features.

'I’m playing golf with my mates tomorrow, so it’ll be good to take them for a spin as well.'

On a public rapid charger, the Mokka-e can get an 80% recharge in around 35 minutes and, when charging from home, you can schedule your charging cycle to suit cost-effective energy tariffs.

Michael said: 'I’ve been looking at Zap-Map, which tells you about all the nearest chargers in your local area, and there’s plenty of choice.

'With the price of diesel at the minute, I’m certainly looking forward to making some savings on fuel.'

And as the automotive industry continues to make its switch to electric, Michael is looking forward to beginning his own EV journey.

Michael added: 'The future is definitely electric, so I had been thinking about perhaps moving to hybrid or fully electric in the next year or so.

'But this just makes it a perfect transition, and I can’t wait to start driving my new car.'
