The highly anticipated BMW i5 saloon is about to arrive in the UK – and it's exactly what we were hoping for.
The new BMW i5 eDrive40 is the first fully-electric 5 Series saloon available in three different trim levels: BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport Comfort, Technology and Ultimate.
It has everything you’d expect from the pack leader of the business saloon sector. It's ideally suited to a sporty driving style and shows off a highly distinctive look.
The exterior is sleek and spacious, while the iconic kidney grill glow makes the BMW i5 unmistakable even in the dark.
The Dynamic Light Carpet illuminates your entry, while the panoramic glass sunroof floods the interior with natural light.
The new BMW, which hits the UK market next month, i5 is also available as an M model with the new BMW i5 M60. Capable of 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 142mph, the all-wheel-drive BMW i5 M60 drives like a true M car – only fully electric.
Thanks to an innovative form of BMW Vertical Dynamics Management, it offers a noticeable increase in sports performance combined with a level of ride comfort that also represents a clear step forward from that of its predecessor.

The space-saving high-voltage battery is located in the underbody and provides an energy content of 81.2kWh.
In addition to the efficient electric motors, the latest version of adaptive recuperation and an intelligent combination of heat pump technology for heating and cooling the interior, the drive and high-voltage battery contribute to its long range.
The respective WLTP values are 282 to 320 miles for the BMW i5 M60 xDrive and 309 to 361 miles for the BMW i5 eDrive40.
With the new MAX RANGE function, the range can be increased by up to 25%, if required, by limiting power and speed and deactivating comfort functions.
The new BMW i5 is equipped with Parking Assistant, including Reversing Assist, as standard. With the optional Parking Assistant Professional, automated parking and manoeuvring of up to 200 metres can be controlled in the vehicle or by smartphone outside the vehicle.
Stepping inside the new BMW i5 is immersing yourself in luxury, comfort and style.
The Integration Bar that stretches from the dashboard to the doors offers touch operated controls.
The BMW i5 offers an Air Console Gaming function to keep you entertained while you charge. There are 15 or so games, which are easy to pick up and play and intuitive to control. Meanwhile, fully integrated video streaming is available via an extensive media library.
