This is the first model produced under Volkswagen ownership and also the year in which SEAT celebrated its 50th anniversary.
The first SEAT Ibiza was a result of a collaboration between SEAT and the Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, engineering company Karmann and the prestigious German sports-car manufacturer Porsche.
This started SEAT’s convention of naming models after Spanish locations.
