What is the Audi A4 Black Edition?

The Audi A4 is one of the most consistently popular luxury cars on the market. Across its many iterations, from its launch in 1994 to the present day, it has retained its reputation as a premium car with significant power under the bonnet.

The introduction of the Black Edition came in 2014 and represents a high-end trim option across the A4’s Mk4 and Mk5 iterations. The A4 Mk4, introduced in 2008, was the first of the Audi range to add the ‘Black Edition’ to its trim options. As a premium addition to the A4 lineup, it included the premium 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre Quattro engines, which can accelerate to 60mph in an impressive 6.4 seconds and 5.9 seconds respectively.

At launch, the Black Edition was based on Audi’s S-Line model, which added a series of sporty features to the vehicle, including a revised body kit and sports suspension. The Black Edition also gets these features, plus some other equipment and design changes to help make it more distinct. The Black Edition is most defined by its unique black styling kit, which enhances the stylish looks of the A4. In 2019, the A4 Mk5 was introduced, with the Black Edition being updated in line with standard models.
