What is the Nissan Juke Tekna?

The Nissan Juke, a subcompact crossover SUV, delivers the height and spacious feel of an SUV in a much smaller package. It’s a good choice for families who need more room but would find a full-size SUV a little too big for residential or city streets. Launched in 2010, the Juke had an updated second generation taking to the roads in 2020.

With plenty of boot space, a roomy cabin and striking exterior, the Nissan Juke has a practical design and kerbside appeal. The Tekna trim elevates its features for drivers and passengers, with an immersive audio experience and enhanced safety technology making driving both safer and more enjoyable. It’s an excellent option for drivers interested in alternatives to the Renault Captur Techno, Ford Puma ST-Line and Hyundai Kona Premium.

Nissan Juke history

Launched in 2010 at the New York Auto Show, developed from the bubble-shaped Nissan Qazana concept, and hit the roads in 2011. Mk1 Nissan Jukes were available in five trim levels: Visia, Acenta, Tekna, Nismo and Nismo RS.

The Mk2 Nissan Juke was launched in 2020, introducing to the market an upgraded Tekna trim that’s packed with technology. The MK1 ceased production in September 2018 in the UK. The MK2 model is larger, with better stability, cornering and boosted performance. It is 23kg lighter than the MK1. Inside, there is more head and leg room and the boot is 20% larger.

The Nissan Juke Tekna is available in three engines: the 114bhp, 1.0-litre petrol (available with a manual or automatic clutch) and the 143bhp, 1.6-litre, automatic, self-charging hybrid. The manual 1.0-litre achieves 0-62mph in 10.7 seconds, while the automatic clocks in at 11.8 seconds. The more powerful 1.6-litre goes from 0-62mph in 10.1 seconds.

Where does the Nissan Juke Tekna sit in the range?

In Mk2 vehicles, the Tekna trim sits close to the top of the Nissan Juke range – only topped by the Tekna+, which offers the same features but adds colour scheme customisation options for new owners.

As its name suggests, the Tekna has a strong focus on premium technology. One of its most impressive features is its Bose sound system, which delivers high-quality, customisable audio to drivers and passengers. The driving experience is elevated, with semi-autonomous capabilities that make long journeys smoother and less arduous.

What features and equipment does the Tekna have?

The Nissan Juke Tekna is packed with premium features. These include 19-inch alloys and its headline Bose Personal Plus audio system, which has ten speakers positioned around the car. There are six around the cabin and two in each of the front seat headrests, which sit either side of the occupants’ heads for surround sound.

Debuted at the 2016 Paris Motor Show the audio system delivers a great all round sound experience. You can create an adjustable ‘soundscape’ tailored to your preferences, whether that’s bassy or ambient. Select your mode via the eight-inch Nissan connect infotainment screen and choose the perfect song from the DAB radio, or through Apple CarPlay or Google Android.

The Tekna doesn’t just deliver a strong entertainment experience. It’s well connected, with USB ports in the front and rear console and voice recognition capabilities to control the built-in TomTom sat nav. You’ll be comfortable, too, thanks to heated front seats and an auto-dimming interior rear- view mirror that prevents you being dazzled by other cars’ headlights.

To keep you and your passengers safe, the Tekna trim comes with an Advanced Safety Shield Pack as standard. Clever features like a 360-degree parking camera and parking sensors help prevent you from getting bumps and scrapes. While blind-spot monitoring and multi-direction, cross-traffic alerts can help protect you against more serious incidents.

If your Nissan Juke Tekna is automatic, you can take advantage of Nissan ProPilot. This semi-autonomous function will help steer, brake and increase your car’s speed during long motorway journeys. Manuals have plenty of smart features too, like intelligent emergency braking if the cameras detect a pedestrian or cyclist who arrives suddenly in your path.

The Nissa Juke Tekna trim adds impressive technology and useful smart safety features to a solid, compact SUV-style car.
