What is the Renault Kadjar GT Line?

The GT Line is the flagship trim available on the Renault Kadjar compact crossover SUV. Since the model’s launch in 2015, the GT Line was retained as the top-level trim throughout the model’s production cycle until its eventual discontinuation in 2022.

The GT Line combines premium materials and smart technology. Added to the Renault Kadjar’s top-tier practicality and performance, this makes the Renault Kadjar GT Line an excellent option if you’re looking for an all-round family SUV. Equally well suited to long distances and hugging country roads, this model is a competitor to other models like the Nissan Qashqai Tekna+, SEAT Ateca Xperience Lux and Peugeot 3008 GT Premium.

Renault Kadjar GT Line history

First unveiled in 2015, the Renault Kadjar shares the same design platform as the Nissan Qashqai, with an estimated 60% of the components found in the Kadjar also featuring in the Qashqai. However, the Renault Kadjar boasts an entirely unique lineup of diesel and petrol engines.

In the initial engine range, the entry-level petrol unit was a 1.2-litre option, with the top-level petrol engine being the 1.6-litre, 161bhp option. The diesel range ran from a 1.5-litre diesel with 128bhp to a 1.7-litre turbocharged unit.

The Kadjar was first released with six trims: Expression+, Dynamique Nav, Dynamique S Nav, Dynamique SE Nav, Signature Nav and Signature S Nav. However, after the 2018 facelift, these trims were reduced to the entry-level Play, Iconic, S Edition and GT Line.

Where does the Renault Kadjar GT Line sit in the range?

The GT Line is the flagship trim in the Renault Kadjar’s post-facelift trim range. Compared to the other entry and mid-tier trims, this range-topping option benefits from larger alloy wheels and a wider selection of cabin technology. This trim also has the widest selection of available engines and can come in either of the Renault Kadjar’s available colours: Arctic White and Flame Red or Iron Blue.

What equipment and features does the Kadjar GT Line have?

The Renault Kadjar GT Line is instantly recognisable on the road, thanks to its striking 19-inch ‘Poseidon’ alloy wheels. Complementing its front profile, it also comes with chrome strips and enrichment on its front grille. It also comes with Adamantium front and rear skid plates. Chrome-effect roof rails add to the practicality of the model. Dark tinted rear windows, chrome inserts on the body mouldings and electrically operated and heated side view mirrors all add to the model’s style.

There are LED daytime running lights, high and low-beam headlights, fog lights and indicators that come with a cornering function. These fog lights also come with chrome surrounds. Inside the cabin, you will enjoy carbon black leather upholstery as well as a synthetic leather headrest. Your multi-functional steering wheel is also in leather, ensuring you always have good grip.

The Renault Kadjar GT Line is the only trim in the range to benefit from Renault’s heating pack, meaning that both front seats and the steering wheel come with a welcome heating functionality. The driving seat also comes with three-way electrically operated adjustment, so staying comfortable on long drives is no trouble. Both front seats feature a cushion length extender for added comfort.

On the centre console, there is a seven-inch touchscreen which runs Renault’s signature infotainment system – the R-Link 2. This system is compatible with TomTom LIVE services, which provides up-to-date traffic information as you drive as well as full Western European mapping. There is also a DAB radio, Bluetooth audio streaming and hands-free dialling – all of which can be engaged through voice controls, so you always stay focused on the road. This system is connected to a seven-speaker BOSE digital amplifier system for outstanding sound quality – a notable upgrade on the Renault Kadjar’s other trims.

There’s plenty of drive assist technology too, including a blind spot warning system with side sensors, over speed and traffic sign recognition systems, flank protection and a hands-free parking system.

The Renault Kadjar GT Line can be paired with any of the Renault Kadjar’s post-facelift engines, which replaced the previous selection of engines. The entry-level option is a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol that can generate either 138bhp or 158bhp. The former goes from 0-62mph in 10.4 seconds, while the latter does it in 9.9 seconds. There is also a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 113bhp and accelerates from 0-62mph in 11.7 seconds, while the 1.7-litre diesel has 148bhp. This is the only version of the Renault Kadjar GT Line available with four-wheel drive. It also comes with a six-speed manual gearbox.
