What is the Peugeot 2008 GT Line?
Are you seeking a spacious family car that’s compact and designed for both city and open-road driving? The subcompact crossover SUV Peugeot 2008 GT Line has what you want. Launched in 2013 to sit below the larger 3008, it is well into its second generation.
The Peugeot 2008 GT Line feels athletic, with an eye-catching, sporty grille and striped headlights. This performance-style trim will suit drivers seeking the look of a muscular SUV at a lower price point. It’s more compact, yet its cabin feels comfortably roomy – meaning the 2008 GT Line is also well suited to drivers who want something a little more manageable than a full-size SUV.
The Peugeot 2008 GT Line will be a great match if you’re in the market for cars like the Nissan Juke Tekna, Volkswagen T-Cross SEL or the Renault Captur Techno.
Peugeot 2008 GT Line history
The Peugeot 2008 was first launched in 2013, adding a smaller option to Peugeot’s well-established crossover and SUV range. It's attracted plenty of acclaim over the years, including the Best SUV of the Year 2021 title at the Car of the Year awards.
Designed to replace the station wagon variant of the supermini 207, the 2008 offered families more room and a more elevated riding position. It was given a facelift in 2016, which gave the car a sharper, more angular look. It was during the lifespan of its first generation that the GT Line trim was introduced, offering a more premium alternative to the entry-level choice.
The Mk2 came along in 2019, with the GT Line offered as a trim option from the outset. This second generation of the Peugeot 2008 refined the body further, adding angled headlights, a patterned grille and daytime running light stripes. A facelift was announced in 2023, introducing a more powerful battery for hybrid 2008s and an even more muscular appearance.
Where does the Peugeot 2008 GT Line sit in the range?
Sitting one level below the most executive trim, the GT Premium, the GT Line trim is a quality option for those considering the Peugeot 2008. Since its 2023 facelift, the Peugeot 2008 trim range has been reconfigured with the GT trim replacing the GT Line, sitting below the flagship First Edition. Still, there are plenty of used Peugeot 2008 GT Line cars available that have everything from built-in massage seats to ambient lighting to enjoy.
What features and equipment does the 2008 GT Line have?
As an upper-level trim, the Peugeot 2008 GT Line has plenty of premium features. These include the suede-feel Alcantara and leather-trimmed interior, which gets lots of natural light from the panoramic sunroof. You'll enjoy a superior sound experience thanks to the Focal Hi-Fi system, which can be configured to suit your style of music.
The 3D i-Cockpit also has loads of functions that improve driving, including a digital head-up display that shows key driving information – replacing the traditional instrument cluster. You can pick what it shows you, allowing you to keep track of your mpg, fuel levels and speed.
One of the most exciting parts of the Peugeot 2008 GT Line is its Amplify modes, which unlock the driver’s seat’s massage capabilities. In Relax mode, which can be controlled by voice or via the touchscreen, your heated front seat will start to massage your neck, back and shoulders. It’s an excellent way to release tension if you’re stuck in traffic or during the commute home.
The Peugeot 2008’s standard technology gets an upgrade for the GT Line trim. There's a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity. Control your music, answer calls and manage the TomTom traffic navigation through steering wheel-mounted controls, the touchscreen or handy voice controls.
Rear passengers will feel comfortable and catered to in the 2008 thanks to the rear USB sockets and strategically placed speakers. The car also has lots of clever storage, including deep door cubbies and a spacious centre console area, which can also act as a phone stand.
There are three main engines that you’ll find on a Peugeot 2008 GT Line: the 1.2-litre PureTech petrol, which is available with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic, and the BlueHDi 1.5-litre diesel. The manual petrol has 129bhp and uses 230Nm of torque to get from 0-62mph in an impressive 8.9 seconds. The automatic has the same bhp and torque level but is slightly slower and reaches 62mph in 9.1 seconds. The diesel, meanwhile, has 99bhp and 250Nm of torque which gets it from 0-62mph in 11.4 seconds.
