What is the Peugeot 308 GT Line?
The Peugeot 308 GT Line is a high-level trim on the Peugeot 308. First added to the Peugeot 308’s trim range in 2014, it was part of the Peugeot 308’s Mk2 trim lineup until the release of the third-generation model in 2021.
The Peugeot 308 is a small family car that borrows design elements from the similarly compact 307 model, while updating its engines and styling. The GT Line trim adds to this further by featuring larger wheels, exterior style enhancements and lots of interior cabin technology that gives this trim a premium feel.
Available across both the Peugeot 308’s coupé cabriolet and estate bodies, the GT Line trim’s upmarket additions make it a great option if you’re looking for a practical and comfortable compact car with lots of technology and a premium interior.
Peugeot 308 GT Line history
The GT Line was first introduced to the Peugeot 308 with the release of the second-generation model in 2014. The first generation had been released in 2007 and boasted excellent fuel efficiency and practicality. It was available with a range of both petrol and diesel engines, and in an estate, saloon and hatchback body.
The 308 received a facelift in 2011 that introduced a new front and rear bumper. It also added start/stop technology to the model.
The second generation added new exterior details, such as daytime running lights, and expanded the range of cabin technology on offer. These updates helped the Mk2 of the Peugeot 308 win European Car of the Year in 2014. It was released with five trims: Active, Allure, GT Line, GT and GTI. It also reduced the number of diesel engines on offer. The Mk2 received a facelift in 2017 that included a new front bumper, bonnet and front grille. A panoramic roof was also included across most trims. A minor update in 2020 expanded the range of body colours available on the model and saw the addition of Peugeot’s digital instrument cluster, the i-Cockpit.
The GT Line trim was available with two engine options: a petrol 1.2-litre PureTech option, which generated 129bhp and accelerated from 0-62mph in just over 8.8 seconds. There was also a 1.6-litre diesel BlueHDi that produced 118bhp and accelerated to 62mph in 10.3 seconds. This engine could also be configured to produce 202bhp, taking its 0-62mph acceleration to 7.5 seconds. It also boasted signature badging around the exterior and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The third generation of the Peugeot 308 launched in 2021. The Mk3 is slightly smaller than the Mk2, contributing towards its aerodynamic shape. It also added lots of new cabin technology, including an adaptive cruise control function and parking assistance. It was available with a petrol hybrid engine and a battery electric option, and the GT Line trim was discontinued on this variant. Instead, the Mk3 is available with Active Premium, Allure, Allure Premium, GT and GT Premium trims.
Where does the Peugeot 308 GT Line sit in the range?
In the Peugeot 308 Mk2 trim lineup, the GT Line trim sits in the middle of the range. It is above the entry-level Active and Allure trims and below the GT and GTI trim.
What equipment and technology does the Peugeot 308 GT Line have?
The GT Line trim features a number of exterior style additions that help it stand out on the road. This includes 18-inch Diamant alloy wheels that are larger than those offered on the entry-level trim. These wheels also have a rippled finish for added style.
You will also find Nera black door mirror shells and a twin exhaust effect trim, which add a sporty feel. On the front, the Peugeot 308 GT Line comes with a sports front bumper design as well as a chequered front grille with Peugeot lettering. This trim’s aerodynamic design also includes a sports side skirt trim and a black rear diffuser.
For driving assistance, this trim comes with front LED sequential indicators and fog lights. There are also full LED head and taillights – the former are self-levelling.
Inside, you’ll find leather, contrast stitching and quality materials – all of which create a comfortable and premium interior. There are aluminium-style pedals and door sills, as well as Tramontane black headlining.
There is Mistral leather featured across upholstery, the perforated multifunctional steering wheel and floor mats. For added style, there is red precision stitching throughout, including on the front arm rest and gear stick gaiter.
There’s plenty of comfort to be found while seated in the GT Line. The upholstery is a part-Mistral leather and part-cloth blend. On the front two seats, you will have electric lumbar support so that you can always find the perfect position for you, and there’s an electric massage functionality for even more luxury.
