Our latest used Toyota Aygo X cars in stock now

The Toyota Aygo X is a crossover city car and is the successor to the brand’s successful city car, the Aygo. Released in 2022, the Aygo X boasts new styling while retaining the Aygo’s distinctive charm. With its larger body size, the Aygo X takes the versatility and practicality of the Aygo nameplate even further.

Toyota Aygo X facelifts and updates

The Toyota Aygo X’s all-round suitability make it a great choice for city driving and day-to-day journeys. It is reasonable to run compared to other crossover city cars, like the Kia Picanto, Hyundai i10 and Fiat 500 thanks to the select choices of efficient engines. For smoother driving, you’ll also find plenty of handy driving assistance aids and technology that keep you safe and entertained.

The Toyota Aygo X shares several design similarities with the Toyota Aygo, including the 1.0-litre petrol engine and CVT gearbox. However, it is built on a shorter platform than the Aygo and isn’t available with a hybrid engine. The Toyota Aygo X was released with three main trims – Pure, Edge and Exclusive. A limited-run Air Edition was also released at the end of 2022, adding larger 18-inch matt-black alloy wheels with distinctive colour markings, a new front bumper, a wider selection of body colours and an expansive set of interior technology.

Another limited edition – UNDERCOVER – was launched in 2022, with only 5,000 units produced in Europe. This trim boasts an 18-inch bi-colour alloy wheels, a red coral colourway, part-leather upholstery, heated front seats and a JBL audio system.

Practicality and style of the car

The Toyota Aygo X’s cabin is as practical as it is stylish, with curved interfaces, tactile materials and contrasting colours coming together to create a desirable interior. In the driving seat, you’ll have an expansive view of the road thanks to the model’s high driving position. And with narrow and raked back pillars either side of the windshield, you’ll have great visibility from all angles.

The Toyota Aygo X is larger than the Toyota Aygo but still retains the original’s compact design. It has a length of 3,700mm, height of 1,525mm and a width of 1,740mm. This makes it 40mm taller than the Kia Picanto and 37mm taller than the Fiat 500. It is also 30mm longer than the longest trim of the Kia Picanto and 68mm longer than the Fiat 500.

Thanks to its size, the Toyota Aygo X offers a decent amount of boot space, with 231 litres on offer. This is more than the Fiat 500’s 185 litres and Kia Picanto’s 255 litres. Thanks to the rear seats which can fold in a 50:50 split, rear space can be expanded to 812 litres – enough for a good number of bags and suitcases.

The Toyota Aygo X shares some similarities with the Aygo’s design but has a boxier and more prominent profile. Its body colour contrasting adds visual flair, while its patterned front grille, raised wheel arches and sculpted rear bumper and lights ensure the model turns heads everywhere it goes.

Running costs

The Toyota Aygo X offers very good running costs with its insurance group running from group five for the entry-level Pure trim up to group seven for the other trims. This is good value compared to the Kia Picanto’s range of 1 to 11 and the Fiat 500’s range of 3 to 15. Road tax for the Toyota Aygo X is £180 annually. This is the same as the Kia Picanto.

How a used Toyota Aygo X drives

The Toyota Aygo X is available with a three-cylinder, 1.0-litre petrol engine. It can be paired with a five-speed manual gearbox or a CVT transmission. This helps the unit put down 93Nm of torque and generate 71bhp. It accelerates from 0-62mph in 14.9 seconds with a top speed of 98mph, all while returning 56.5mpg.

Features you can expect in a Toyota Aygo-X

Interior

The Toyota Aygo X’s seats come with a cloth and high-quality synthetic leather material that keeps you comfortable on long distances. There’s also decent head and leg room throughout, while the rear three seats are perfectly suited to small children.

The three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel comes with a leather trim and a silver embossed Toyota logo in the middle. This is made from sturdy plastic as is the cluster of buttons either side of this logo. These buttons help you easily control the car’s infotainment system and driver assistance functions. The gearstick also features a leather trim for added grip.

A signature feature of the Toyota Aygo X’s cabin is the oval-shaped centre console which contains the touchscreen infotainment system. Depending on the trim of the model, this screen will be between seven and nine inches, and run Toyota’s Smart Connect multimedia system. This system comes with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and easy smartphone connectivity thanks to USB connection ports.

The practical interior also features lots of cubbies and storage slots for holding handheld items. You’ll find two cupholders in front of the gearstick, a well-sized glovebox and a storage slot under the central console.

Technology

All trims of the Toyota Aygo X come with an extensive range of driver assistance features as standard, thanks to Toyota’s Safety Sense package. This includes a pre-collision system which warns you of any cars, pedestrians and cyclists ahead, emergency braking, collision mitigation support for added braking power and emergency steering.

The model also comes with lane trace assist, which provides steering assistance to help you centre the car in your lane, as well as a lane departure warning system for safer motorway driving. Other features include automatically activating high beam headlights, a road sign recognition system, intelligent adaptive cruise control which automatically adjusts your driving speed and a fatigue monitoring system. On manual transmission models, you will also find a speed limiter.

Safety

The Toyota Aygo X received four out of five stars when tested by Euro NCAP, with an adult and child safety score of 78%. This makes the model safer than the Kia Picanto, Hyundai i10 and Fiat 500, which each scored three stars. Its range of safety features include front and side airbags, child safety lock doors, two ISOFIX points on the rear seats and front seatbelt reminders.
