This step-by-step video shows you tips on how to perfect your parallel park.

We show you how to parallel park.

We show you how to parallel park.

You will be asked to carry out a reverse manoeuvre on your test, this could be a reverse bay park, a reverse around the corner or a parallel park. The important thing to remember when you are carrying out a parallel park is to observe, move slowly and steer quickly.

On your test the examiner is looking for you:

  • to reverse into a space of approximately two car lengths,
  • to park your car at the kerb safely, smoothly and under control,
  • to maintain observation throughout the manoeuvre,
  • to be parked not too close to the parked car, and
  • to not touch the kerb while manoeuvring.
