Why choose Arnold Clark?
The Ford Focus Vignale is the flagship trim of the Ford Focus. Enhancing the qualities and features of the Ford Focus, the Focus Vignale adds premium features to the original model, such as a sportier body kit and smart interiors. For a premium update on a typical family hatchback, the Ford Focus Vignale is an excellent choice.
The Vignale adds desirable outer styling to the Ford Focus, including 18-inch alloy wheels and a striking chrome grille which creates a unmistakable front profile. The interior has also been revamped, with leather coating many surfaces and new technology, such as heated front seats, adding a welcome touch.
Bringing premium features to the Ford Focus, the Vignale’s top-tier additions make the model a competitor for other compact upmarket models, like the BMW 1 Series and Audi A3 Sportback and Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
Ford Focus Vignale updates and facelifts
The Ford Focus Vignale was launched as the premium trim in the Focus’ fourth generation release in 2018. As with the rest of the Mk4’s range, the Vignale is available with either petrol, diesel or hybrid engines.
Practicality and style of the Ford Focus Vignale
The Ford Focus Vignale offers 375 litres of boot space, which can be expanded to 1,354 litres by folding down the rear seats. This offers plenty of space for luggage and storage boxes. It is also more than the Volkswagen Golf hatchback’s 1,237 litres of room.
The boot also features bag hooks which secure shopping bags in place. An extra ski hatch compartment helps with transporting long items without folding down the rear seats.
For those wanting to transport trailers and compartments, the Ford Focus Vignale has a maximum brakes towing capacity of up to 1,100kg with petrol engines and up to 1,400kg with diesel engines. This is suitable for many small trailers.
Two ISOFIX points are located on the outside rear seats allowing drivers to securely install child seats.
Running Costs
The Ford Focus Vignale offers good running costs for its premium features, with its insurance groups ranging from 13 to 21. Compared to the Volkswagen Golf R-Line’s range of 18 to 23, and the BMW 1 Series’ range of 16-28, this is very good value.
Road tax on the Vignale is also good value compared to its competitors. It qualifies for an annual road tax of £180 which is reasonable relative to the BMW 1 Series’ £180 and £570 annual rate.
How a used Ford Focus Vignale drives
The Ford Focus Vignale is available in petrol, diesel or hybrid engines, with all engines available with manual or automatic transmission.
The petrol range includes a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine that produces 123bhp. This achieves 0 to 62mph in 10.2 seconds and returns up to 62.8mpg. There is also a 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine that can generate 180bhp and achieves 0 to 62mph in 8.3 seconds. This has a fuel efficiency of 60.1mpg.
In the diesel range, there is a 1.5-litre TDCi EcoBlue diesel engine which can put down 118bhp. This can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 10 seconds and returns up to 78.3mpg.
There is also a 2.0-litre TDCi EcoBlue diesel engine which can generate 148bhp and go from 0 to 62mph in 8.5 seconds. This engine has a good fuel economy and returns 76.3mpg.
Features you can expect to find in a Ford Focus Vignale
Interior
The interior of the Ford Focus Vignale is finished with high-quality materials which help give the Vignale a premium look and feel. These include the leather upholstered seats with contrasting stitching and smooth plastics on the dashboard. The exterior design is bespoke and features body-coloured bumpers and 18-inch alloy wheels, helping the Vignale turn heads wherever it goes.
A used Ford Focus Vignale will have an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen in the centre console, which contains Ford’s SYNC3 infotainment system. This system comes with sat nav, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity so you can easily stream your own music and entertainment. Below the screen are the physical controls for the dual-zone climate control and audio volume adjustment.
These infotainment and hands-free systems are linked to the Vignale’s 10-speaker sound system which delivers top-tier surround sound to the whole cabin.
In the Vignale trim, a used Ford Focus has a heads-up display which projects important information such as the car’s speed and fuel gauge onto a glass panel so that the driver does not have to take their eyes off the road.
The cabin also has multi-colour ambient lighting, which can be customised to suit the driver’s preferences, as well as creating a relaxed atmosphere in the cabin. These lights are also useful for quickly finding items in the dark.
The Vignale offers ample comfort with good amounts of leg and headroom for all passengers, ensuring a comfortable drive for everyone. Road, wind and engine noise is well-hushed and the suspension dampens rough road surfaces well.
There are also lots of storage spaces around the cabin to stow away personal items, keeping the cabin tidy. In the front, there is decent-sized glovebox, an adjustable cupholder and a storage bin in the central armrest. Door bins are deep and can hold large water bottles and handheld accessories.
Technology
The Ford Focus Vignale comes with a host of features including Active Park Assist which means the car can automatically park itself when activated. Automatic lights and wipers also feature on the Focus Vignale adding handy convenience to the vehicle. Other driver assistance functions include cruise control, parking sensors in the front and rear, lane-keep assist with lane-departure warning, and hill-start assist.
Safety
The Ford Focus scored a full five stars on the Euro NCAP safety tests. It also scored highly for adult and child occupant protection tests, receiving 96% and 87% respectively. It scored higher than the BMW 1 Series, which achieved 83% for adult protection and 87% for child protection.
Safety features on the Vignale include electronic stability control, driver and side airbags and LED daytime running lights and headlights. It also comes with a pre-collision assist which detects when a collision is imminent and activates autonomous emergency braking to reduce the car's speed. This also comes with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
