The E-pace is Jaguar’s compact premium SUV, boasting great practicality, top-tier styling and a premium interior design. A used E-Pace is particularly appealing to drivers looking for a premium SUV with enough practicality for long family adventures. Spacious by design, and with ample cabin comfort and storage space, the E-Pace is just as comfortable heading off-road as it is on long motorway adventures.

Jaguar E-Pace updates and facelifts

First unveiled in 2017, the E-Pace is one of the newer models in the competitive C-vehicle segment. The model underwent a facelift in 2020, adding new mild and plug-in hybrid engines, new cabin technology and remodelled exterior bumpers and headlights, the E-Pace has quickly developed significant appeal. All of this makes the E-Pace an effective rival to the traditional heavyweights in this class, such as the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Volvo XC40.

The E-Pace’s wide variety of engines and efficient performance have a lot of appeal. There is a range of 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol or diesel engines, with most equipped with an automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive. Offering a different level of efficiency and range, the new petrol plug-in hybrid pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver greater fuel economy.

Appealing to a wide range of different driving needs, the E-Pace’s four key trim levels offer even more flexibility when it comes to finding the right E-Pace for your needs. From the entry-level E-Pace S to the flagship R-Dynamic HSE, these trims add detailed styling, luxurious interior materials and welcome extras to the model, helping it stand out as an exceptional premium SUV.

Practicality and style of the car

Ample cabin space means there’s comfort for everyone. There’s plenty of headroom for tall passengers and there’s reasonable leg and knee room too. Child safety seats are easily fitted thanks to the ISOFIX points in the outer rear seats, while panel-length door bins mean there’s lots of storage space for handheld items. There is also a large front compartment and glovebox, as well as cup holders for securely holding drinks.

A used Jaguar E-Pace is a spacious car at 4,411mm long, 1,649mm tall and 1,900mm wide. Compared to the Range Rover Evoque, the E-Pace is 40mm longer, offering more leg room for passengers.

When it comes to boot space, at 577 litres, a used Jaguar E-Pace has plenty of room for suitcases and bags. By folding down the rear seats, boot space expands to 1,234 litres – more than the Evoque’s 1,156 litres.

The E-Pace has a maximum braked towing capacity of up to 1,800kg – enough for most small to medium-sized trailers and caravans.

Running costs

Reflecting its premium design, the E-Pace’s insurance groups range from 24 to 42, which is comparable to other cars in the class. Most entry-level E-Paces qualify for an annual road tax of £180, while owners of high-spec models will typically have to pay the higher annual amount of £570.

How a used Jaguar E-Pace drives

A used E-Pace comes with petrol, diesel or hybrid engines, with all models manufactured after the 2020 facelift benefitting from mild hybrid technology. All petrol and diesel engines are 2.0-litre, four-cylinder configurations and come with start/stop technology to push fuel economy even further. Most engines in the E-Pace range are all-wheel drive and have a nine-speed automatic transmission.

In the petrol range, the P200 delivers 197bhp, 31mpg and can go from 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds. The P250 offers 246bhp, 31.8mpg and gets from 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds. The P300 produces 296bhp, 31.3mpg and accelerates from 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds.

The D165 is an entry-level, 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 161bhp, generates 45.6mpg and can accelerate from 0-62mph in 9.5 seconds. In pre-facelift models manufactured before 2020, this D165 can come with a five-speed manual gearbox with front-wheel drive. In models manufactured after 2020, this can come with an automatic gearbox. The D200 produces 201bhp, generates 43.3mpg and achieves 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds.

The P300e plug-in hybrid combines a 197bhp, 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor to produce 305bhp. It accelerates from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and achieves 141mpg. It generates 280Nm of torque and offers an all-electric range of 34 miles.

Features you can expect in Jaguar E-Pace

If you’re looking to stand out on the road, the E-Pace has plenty to offer. Its exterior is unmistakably sporty, boasting a honeycomb front grille and sleek LED headlights. A striking front profile, dynamic roofline, spoiler and raked rear window enhance this model’s curb appeal at all angles.

Exterior lighting also helps give off a distinctive impression at night, with puddle lights in the door mirrors displaying Jaguar’s logo. LED taillights also give the E-Pace a dynamic night-time profile.

Interior

Step into the cabin, and you enter an interior where attention has been paid to even the finest details. The multi-function steering wheel has a soft-grain leather trim, while the dashboard is clad in soft-touch plastic. Chrome highlights have been added to the centre console and air conditioning controls for a welcome colour contrast.

While entry-level trims often come in a black and chrome interior colourway, the E-Pace can come with an expansive range of interior colours, such as a Light Oyster and Mars Red. For more on-the-road presence, the E-Pace’s exterior is available in Fuji White, Narvik Black and Portofino Blue.

In the cockpit, you’ll benefit from a wraparound design and exceptionally comfortable seats. Depending on trim, the driver’s seat is available in a sport mesh material, grained leather or Windsor leather for exceptional comfort on long journeys. Across all trims, the front seats are heated, have four-way lumbar support and multi-way electrical adjustment for convenient seat adjustment on the go. Some trims also come with a memory function for either the driver’s seat or also the front passenger’s seat, for easy recalling of your preferred seating position.

Technology

On pre-facelift 2020 models, the top-level HSE trim features a 12.3-inch digital instrument display. This display now features across all trims in the post-facelift range. The display provides key driving information such as distance driven, fuel and charge level and sat nav.

An 11.4-inch infotainment display sits in the centre console. In post-2020 models with a facelift, this system benefits from Jaguar’s Pivi Pro system which includes Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, remote app access through the Pivi Pro app on your phone, weather and Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar integration. You can even charge compatible smartphones wirelessly in the E-Pace.
