Why choose Arnold Clark?
The Dacia Logan Stepway is an MCV (maximum capacity vehicle) – a spacious estate car with SUV style. It's a large and practical choice for families, appealing to those seeking a bigger version of the Dacia Duster. Its rivals in this class include the SsangYong Tivoli and Škoda Octavia Scout.
Dacia Logan Stepway updates and facelifts
Offering extra height and plenty of passenger and cargo space, the Dacia Logan Stepway is a practical choice that’s available in two trims: Comfort and SE Twenty. Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 2017, the Logan Stepway followed the Sandero Stepway’s design choice of adding more height to a well-loved model.
During its 2017 – 2021 production run, the Dacia Logan Stepway didn’t receive a facelift. It's available in the standard MCV body type that’s 50mm higher off the ground than the standard Logan.
The Dacia Logan Stepway is available with three engines – the 1.5-litre dCi 90 diesel and the 0.9-litre TCe petrol, some of which are configured as a bi-fuel engine. The car comes with a five-speed manual transmission gearbox and is front-wheel drive as standard.
Practicality and style of the car
The Logan Stepway is roomy, with ample headroom and three rear seats that can comfortably accommodate three adults. Sitting higher up, it’s easy to get into and offers a great view of the road. Measuring in at 4,528mm long and 1,761mm wide, it’s also 303mm longer than the SsangYong Tivoli and 187mm longer than the Dacia Duster.
The boot has a 573-litre capacity and will fit everything from flat packs to groceries and luggage with ease. This capacity is greater than you’ll find on similar cars like the SsangYong Tivoli which offers 423 litres.
If you need more space, putting the back seats down opens up a huge 1,518 litres of space – 400 litres more than the SsangYong Tivoli – that can hold items up to 2.3 metres in length. The boot is a practical space, too. There’s a wide opening, a flat and square area and low loading lip, allowing you to stack lots inside.
As a larger vehicle, the Dacia Logan Stepway is a good choice for towing caravans, trailers and small boats. It has a maximum braked trailer capacity of 1,100kg and an unbraked towing capacity of up to 650kg. The towing capacity is higher than the SsangYong Tivoli, which can tow up to 1,000kg. The Dacia Logan Stepway also has roof bars, which allows you to fit a roof box for extra capacity.
Running costs
The Dacia Logan Stepway sits between insurance groups 7 to 11. The SE Twenty TCe 90 is the most affordable engine and trim, sitting in insurance groups 7 or 8 depending on the trim. By comparison, the Škoda Octavia Scout falls in insurance groups 19 to 25 and the SsangYong Tivoli is between groups 13 to 20.
Road tax is also affordable for the Dacia Logan Stepway. All trims cost £180 other than the petrol bi-fuel engine, which costs £170 in annual road tax. By comparison, the Škoda Octavia Scout costs between £240 and £395 to tax and the SsangYong Tivoli sits between £180 and £290 for post-2017 vehicles.
How a used Dacia Logan Stepway drives
All Dacia Logan Stepways are front-wheel drive and come with a five-speed manual gearbox. There are three engines available: a 1.5-litre diesel and a 0.9-litre petrol, some of which are configured as a bi-fuel, petrol or LPG-compatible engine.
The petrol engine has 90bhp and generates 140Nm of torque, going from 0-62mph in 12.4 seconds. It achieves 51.4mpg and generates 139g CO2/km. In the bi-fuel configuration, it has 100bhp and generates 170Nm of torque, with the same 0-62mph speed. It achieves 47.1mpg and returns 134-121g CO2/km, depending on if you use petrol or LPG.
The diesel engine has 95bhp and generates 220Nm of torque. Its 0-62mph time is 12.6 seconds. You'll achieve 57.8-61.4mpg and emit 124g CO2/km.
