We have 73 Honda Jazz cars in stock!
Offering practicality and reliability enveloped in understated hatchback styling, the Honda Jazz was launched in 2002. Its official seat is in the supermini class, meaning its key competition is from the likes of the SEAT Ibiza and the Kia Rio. However, the Jazz’s versatility is that of a micro-MPV, making it a confident rival of cars such as the Ford B-MAX and Hyundai Bayon.
The third generation was launched in 2015. Available in three trims and with a petrol engine that could be paired with a manual or CVT automatic gearbox, it kept drivers’ choices refreshingly simple. The Jazz was given a facelift in 2018, offering an additional engine for the Sport trim and styling updates and the Mk4 was introduced in 2020. This edition received critical acclaim, winning the title of Best Small Car at the 2022 What Car? Awards, and being named Most Reliable Small Car by Which? Magazine in 2021–22.
Honda Jazz updates and facelifts
Following the arrival of the Mk4 Jazz, one addition was made to the range. The regular 5-door hatchback was joined by the Jazz Crosstar in mid-2020. This boasts off-road styling, with a raised ride height, body cladding and roof rails, giving it a more rugged appearance and the benefits of higher ground clearance. In 2023, the regular model received a boost in power, making it a little more responsive to drive.
The Mk4 Jazz comes with only one powertrain: a 1.5-litre e:HEV (self-charging hybrid), in line with Honda’s goal of eliminating all conventional engines from its European lineup. This, combined with its interior space and appealing looks, make it a fantastic choice for those seeking cost-effective practicality.
Practicality and style of the car
For a supermini, the Honda Jazz is incredibly practical, not least for its ingenious ‘Magic’ rear seats. These increase your luggage capacity by folding forward in one movement, creating a flat load floor. You can also flip up the bases like a cinema seat and lock them in place, enabling you to accommodate bulky cargo such as luggage and even bikes. As such, getting everything from pushchairs and sports kit to the family dog inside is easy.
The Mk3 Jazz has the larger boot, providing a 354-litre space with all the seats in place. Fold them down to open up 1,314 litres of space – and if you want to carry a long item such as a paddle board, you can fold the front passenger seat down too. The Mk4 edition isn’t quite so capacious because it houses a battery that delivers the car’s hybrid capabilities. Nevertheless, there are 304-1,205 litres of boot space available, which is more than the Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Fiesta.
With passengers aboard, the Honda Jazz is equally accommodating. It will seat four adults comfortably, providing ample headroom and legroom even for tall occupants, while a child or teen can fit in the middle rear seat for a shorter journey. There are ISOFIX mounting points on the outer seats too, making it easy for parents to transport young children.
Running costs
Part of the Jazz’s appeal is its low running costs. The Mk3 occupies insurance groups 13–19 out of 50, making premiums modest for the level of practicality and equipment it offers, while the Mk4’s hybrid engine nudges this edition up to groups 19–22. Road tax for most Mk3 Jazz models is £180 annually, while Mk4 editions cost £170 per year.
How a used Honda Jazz drives
Refined, quiet and economic, the Honda Jazz is at its best around town. When equipped with the hybrid engine in particular, it is agile and composed with quick, light steering that makes it feel responsive as you navigate urban streets and execute manoeuvres.
Third-generation Jazz models offer a 1.3-litre petrol engine paired with either six-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission. This produces 101bhp and 123Nm of torque, making for relaxed and enjoyable driving. It also maximises fuel economy, returning up to 60.1mpg on the combined cycle. Those looking for a little more punch can opt for the 1.5-litre petrol unit available on the Sport trim. This has an output of 128bhp, which gets you from 0-62mph in 8.7 seconds, and comes with manual and CVT automatic transmission options. Despite the extra power, this engine delivers impressive efficiency, returning up to 52.3mpg on the combined cycle.
The Mk4 Honda Jazz comes with only one powertrain and this self-charging hybrid pairs a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors to produce 108bhp. It’s teamed with CVT automatic transmission to deliver seamless acceleration from 0-62mph in 9.4 seconds in the regular model and 9.7 seconds for the Crosstar. The Jazz switches effortlessly from petrol to electric power as you drive, optimising fuel economy and keeping emissions to a minimum. Indeed, this practical supermini returns up to 47.9mpg on the combined cycle and emissions reach no higher than 108g/km.

Features you can expect in a Honda Jazz
Interior
The Honda Jazz combines quality with durability, using fine finishes and high-quality materials that are hard-wearing. Mk4 editions have an even more premium feel thanks to a swatch of fabric across the dashboard and silver accents on the dials. Choose the mid-range SR trim and above for leather trim and part-leather upholstery.
The Jazz is among the most spacious superminis on the market, offering plenty of room to seat four adults in comfort. It’s also easy to keep clutter free thanks to a raft of useful cubbies and storage bins. All fourth-generation versions include a front centre armrest, cup holders and seat back pockets for optimum convenience.
Whichever variant you pick, you won’t want for entertainment. SE trims and above on the Mk3 model come equipped with the Honda Connect infotainment system, which includes DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port. Choose a Mk4 and the system has been updated, offering a nine-inch touchscreen on mid and top-spec versions. This has useful tiles for easy navigation, as well as customisable shortcuts. Apple CarPlay is wireless, while Android Auto requires a cable connection.
Technology
The Jazz comes well equipped for comfort and convenience, with entry-level Mk3 editions offering a multi-function steering wheel, electrically adjustable door mirrors, automatic headlights and wipers, air conditioning and cruise control. Move up the range for front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning and traffic sign recognition. Top-spec EX variants offer a rear parking camera and keyless go.
If you’re choosing an Mk4 Jazz the list is even more impressive, with entry-level SE grades including everything that the Mk3 S trim offers, plus an electronic parking brake and hill hold assist, which prevents any backwards roll when you’re pulling away on an incline. There’s also lane keep assist and traffic sign recognition. At the top of the range, you get a Garmin navigation system and heated front seats.
Safety
The Honda Jazz was most recently tested by Euro NCAP in 2020 and achieved a full five-star rating. Scores for adult and child occupant protection were 87% and 83%, beating a higher score than the Mazda 2. A host of standard measures keep you safe, from multiple airbags to automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning system, both of which help you to avoid accidents by detecting objects in your path and applying the brakes if you fail to respond. Top-spec models also feature a blind spot monitoring system and cross traffic monitoring, which detects vehicles approaching from the side when you’re reversing.
