Introduced in September 2020 in Prague, the Škoda Enyaq is the Czech brand’s first all-electric model. It shares a platform with the Volkswagen ID.4 and Audi Q4 e-tron. It also rivals the Hyundai IONIQ 5 in terms of practicality and the Kia EV6 in terms of cost. Launched in June 2021, the Enyaq quickly became one of Europe’s best-selling cars.

The Enyaq offers a choice of two battery sizes and an all-wheel drivetrain on the highest trim level. The base variant is teamed with the lower-powered battery and named Enyaq iV 60 Nav. Next in line is the Enyaq iV 80, which has a higher-powered battery. The Enyaq iV Sportline tops the range. In addition to these core trim levels, the model has four interior design selections: Loft, Lounge, Suite and Eco Suite.

Škoda Enyaq updates and facelifts

The model received a raft of awards, being named Best Electric Large SUV by What Car? in 2021, as well as Parker’s Car of the Year in 2022. It also took the title of Autocar Best Family Car in 2022.

A range of updates to the model occurred in 2023. In 2023 the Enyaq received styling revisions and a host of technical improvements. Among these updates was the increase in maximum charging speed, which dramatically shortened recharge times.

Practicality and style of the car

The Škoda Enyaq was designed with a long rear overhang, Not only is passenger space generous, there’s also a large boot with a 585-litre capacity. That’s more than you’ll find on the Volkswagen ID.4 (543 litres), the Hyundai IONIQ 5 (527 litres) or the Ford Mustang Mach-E (402 litres).

In addition, there’s an underfloor storage space that will comfortably house charging cables. Fold the rear seats down and the Enyaq’s boot provides 1,710 litres of space, one of the biggest available on an electric car.

The Škoda Enyaq is offered with the option of a double-sided boot floor. This has a durable, rubber side which is easy to clean and perfect for dog owners, keen hikers and those making regular trips to the beach. If you’re looking for a tow car, the Enyaq can also haul a braked trailer or two-berth caravan with a weight of up to 1,000kg.

Running costs

The Škoda Enyaq occupies groups 23–28 out of 50 for insurance. Only some of the top-spec Sportline trims and the vRS variant incur higher premiums, sitting in groups 32–36. In comparison, the Audi Q4 e-tron falls into groups 26–40 and the Kia EV6 occupies groups 34–40. As an all-electric model, the Enyaq is exempt from road tax.

How a used Škoda Enyaq drives

Available with two battery options, the Škoda Enyaq is a rear-wheel drive model. The Enyaq iV 60 has a 62kWh battery, which powers a 177bhp electric motor and generates 310Nm of torque. This delivers 256 miles of range and is ideal for those who primarily drive in urban environments. It can also accelerate from 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds.

Choose the Enyaq iV 80 for an improved range and swifter acceleration. This iteration is powered by a 201bhp motor, which also develops 310Nm of torque. This variant achieves 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds and you will get a total of 333 miles of range. As such, the Enyaq iV 80 is well suited to long-distance drives.

The iV 80X version of this battery provides all-wheel drive capability plus a total power output of 261bhp. This is thanks to the dual-motor setup, which takes you from 0-62mph in just 6.9 seconds. The vRS is the fastest option of all, producing 295bhp and 460Nm of torque for a 0-62mph acceleration time of 6.5 seconds.

The Enyaq iV 60 has a maximum charging speed of 120kW, charging the vehicle from 10–80% in just 35 minutes. Using a 7.4kW Wallbox, a full charge takes around 9.5 hours. Other variants take between 29 and 36 minutes to charge from 10–80% using a fast charger. That’s because they boast a maximum charging speed of 135kW. The larger battery means a full charge using a Wallbox takes just under 13 hours.

Features you can expect in a Škoda Enyaq

Interior

The Enyaq has plenty of room for the driver, front passenger and those travelling in the rear. Three adults can comfortably sit in the back, enjoying good head and legroom. There’s also a flat floor, which ensures the middle rear passenger has space to rest their feet – unlike in similar cars with an internal combustion engine. If you’re travelling with young children, you can secure them easily thanks to ISOFIX mounting points on the outer rear seats.

In-cabin storage is generous too, with two pockets on the front seat backs: one larger pocket and one smaller one. Rear passengers also get folding tray tables. In the front, there’s a large glovebox, two cup holders and a separate compartment between the front seats for additional storage.

Behind the wheel, the Enyaq feels comfortable and modern, boasting high-quality yet durable materials. There are four interior design options: Loft, Lounge, Suite and Eco Suite. Each brings its own unique aesthetic, with the Suite offering soft black leather and piano black finishes, for example. Choose the Eco Suite and the dominant colour is Cognac Brown with stone detailing.

Technology

Whichever Enyaq you choose, you’ll get an intuitive infotainment system with a 13-inch touchscreen display and eight-speaker sound system as standard. The touchscreen sits high on the dash, making it easily visible, and provides access to DAB radio, navigation and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Some used models may also benefit from the optional Infotainment Package Plus, which includes a head-up display and augmented reality directions.

The Škoda Enyaq comes well-equipped as standard. Every variant comes with climate control, cruise control and parking sensors. Choosing the Enyaq iV 80 adds a heated, multi-functional steering wheel and front parking sensors. There’s also a rear-view camera to give enhanced visibility and a Drive mode select system. This enables you to tailor the car’s driving experience to suit the circumstances, road conditions and your driving preferences.

Safety

Škoda Enyaq was awarded a full five stars by Euro NCAP in 2021. Gaining an adult occupant protection score of 94% and a child occupant protection score of 89%. This is higher than the Kia EV6’s 90% for adult occupants and 86% for child occupants.

Standard safety features include lane assist and front assist with automatic emergency braking. The former helps you remain in your lane on the motorway and the latter works to prevent low-speed collisions by detecting objects in your path and warning you to brake.

Some used Škoda Enyaq cars may feature the Assisted Drive Package, which can be specified when the vehicle is new. This adds handy technologies such as adaptive cruise control, which enables you to maintain a constant speed as well as a preset distance from the vehicle in front.
