The Volvo C40 is a pure-electric crossover coupé SUV, first released in 2021. The C40 is largely based on the Volvo XC40 Recharge, using the same powertrain and sharing much of the interior design and cabin technology. Volvo C40 updates and facelifts

As the model is relatively new to market, it has not yet undergone any facelifts. The Volvo C40 is heavily based on the Volvo XC40 Recharge, which was released in 2020. While borrowing many of the Volvo XC40 Recharge’s features, the C40’s coupé roofline adds new outer styling while tailoring the cabin space too.

Practicality and style of the car

A used Volvo C40 has a practical design thanks to its size. It has a height of 1,591mm, width of 1,873mm and length of 4,440mm, making it 8mm wider than the Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback. The cabin offers good knee and legroom across all five seats. The sloping roofline means tall adults will stay comfortable over shorter distances.

The Volvo C40 has a reasonable boot space of 413 litres, which is enough for a handful of bags. This can be increased to 1,205 litres by folding the rear seats down. It has 235bhp and accelerates from 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds. It has a single charge range of 297 miles and 420Nm of torque.

There is also blind-spot monitoring, a cross-traffic alert system and a semi-autonomous Drive Assist system, which detects deviations in your driving and corrects them. The Volvo C40 also has three ISOFIX points making it easy to fit child safety seats.

Volvo C40 Core

The entry-level Core trim comes with heated front seats and manual four-way lumbar support helping you stay relaxed as you drive. There is also a panoramic sunroof for letting in natural light, a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen on the centre console, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-speaker sound system. For keeping you safe, there is also blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist and a rearview camera.

Volvo C40 Plus

The mid-tier Plus trim comes with high-beam fog lights and a 360-degree camera. It also comes with adaptive cruise control, and an advanced heat pump system, which optimises the battery for maximum range while enhancing the cabin’s air conditioning.

Volvo C40 Ultimate

The top-level trim comes with 20-inch alloy wheels and active LED headlights. There is also a premium Harman Kardon air-ventilated subwoofer for even higher-quality sound and entertainment.
