Features you can expect to find in a Ford B-Max
Interior
The B-Max is furnished with good-quality and robust materials . It comes well equipped with technology that provides the cabin with onboard entertainment and an intuitive menu to control the car’s functions.
At the top of the dashboard there is a 4.2-inch infotainment screen. This is controlled via a set of buttons and a dial or, on the Zetec trim level and higher, via Ford’s SYNC voice activation. This recognises voice commands and helps to keep the driver concentrating on the road. The infotainment system comes with a DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity for onboard entertainment and hands-free calling. On the Zetec trim and higher, the Ford B-Max comes with an integrated sat nav.
Located on the dashboard, you can find a trip computer that tells drivers important driving information such as car mileage, average fuel consumption and average speed. These can be helpful for maximising the vehicle’s efficiency.
Other features include a child observation mirror that allows the driver to look back at the passengers in the rear seats.
Inside the cabin, passengers will find plenty of headroom and legroom. The B-Max's cabin can fit five adults with ease and its tall body ensures comfort in the rear seats.
One feature that stands out on the Ford B-Max is the wide opening doors. Rather than the traditional door set-up, Ford has designed the B-Max with rear sliding doors that open away from the front door. This makes getting in and out of the rear seats and installing child seats much easier. As a result of this door design, there are no B-pillars, and the interior feels airy and spacious.
There are plenty of storage spaces that can help to keep the cabin clutter free. In the front there is a good-sized glove box, a cubby in front of the gearshift, a pair of cupholders on the centre console and door bins that provide a good amount of space to store large water bottles. In the rear, there is a cubby located on the centre console and storage nets on the back of the front seats can be used to store entertainment devices.
The Ford B-Max has good handling on the road and gives the driver a controlled and enjoyable driving experience. Road, wind and engine noise is kept to a good level within the cabin, and rough roads are smoother with the B-Max's suspension system.
Technology
The Ford B-Max comes with a range of features to assist the driver on the road. Hill start assist helps drivers when completing hill starts by holding the car in place until the driver is ready to accelerate off. Cruise control maintains a steady speed on the motorway to help make long journeys less tiring for the driver.
Other features include automatic headlights, automatic wipers and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. To assist the driver when parking, the Ford B-Max can feature a rearview parking camera or rear parking sensors. These give the driver improved visibility so they can avoid any hard-to-see obstacles.
Safety
Scoring a full five stars on the Euro NCAP safety tests, the Ford B-Max also performed very well in comparison to its rivals in relation to adult and child occupancy protection tests. Scoring 92% and 84% respectively, the Ford B-Max performed better than the Nissan Note, which scored 86% for adult protection and 82% for child protection. Similarly, the B-Max scored more than the Vauxhall Meriva, which scored 89% and 77% on adult and child protection respectively.
Safety features on the Ford B-Max include electronic stability control with electronic brakeforce distribution. This safely distributes the force of the brakes when cornering or during an emergency brake to reduce the stress on the car and to prevent it from losing contact with the road. Ford Active City Stop automatically applies the brakes if it detects a stationary vehicle in front that’s travelling at a lower speed.
Other features include ISOFIX points in the outermost rear seats to safely secure child seats, a series of airbags in the front and rear and autonomous emergency braking.
